Item Description

Here s an intriguing bit of memorabilia from the Ramones first appearance in Canada. They had only played a few time afar from their home base in New York City. They had been to London for the 4th of July, and now they were going to another country for a second time, albeit a close neighbor.

They played the New Yorker Theater with opening act John Lovsin and his Invisible Band. The show set off a whole bunch of new bands in this new punk style just as they had in London, and in New York.

Some Canadian fan had purchased this original pressing of their debut LP in Canada on Sire / GRT Records and it was only briefly in print with this particular catalog number. They took time to do a little art project too. First they carefully cut out a postcard sized square from the surface of the jacket, and substituted in a postcard from John Lennon s 3 year old LP Sometime In New York City. They took that piece and glued it to the lyric inner sleeve as shown . Then they pasted down their full ticket from the first of the 2-night run at the appropriately named New Yorker Theater.

Above it they wrote Keep It Up Ramones? and it seems to be signed by Gentle Giant Dave who might be the original owner and dated Toronto, Canada Sept. 24 / 72. They must have been so outta their head they got the date wrong.

Excellent playing original LP. Inner sleeve with some yellowing and splits on edges. JACKET as show with NO bent corners or splits, but does have some tape stains at open end front back , and the writing, ticket and alterations as shown. I gotta say, it is a one-of-a-kind sort of thing.
