Item Description
JIMMY CAMPBELL - HALF BAKEDRare original UK 1970 12 LP first pressing on the highly collectable VERTIGO large swirl label, STEREO 6360 010 Matrix Numbers : Side 1 636 00 10 1Y Side 2 636 00 10 2Y An extremely collectable copy of this rare and sought after underrated rock/psych/folk classic in truly excellent conditionJimmy Campbell hails from Liverpool and originally formed a band called The Panthers who played at The Cavern, often supporting The Beatles.
He then went on to form a psych band called 23 Turnoff which did not receive the acclaim it deserved.
Once described by a Times journalist as the era s lost songwriter , Jimmy Campbell wrote songs for amongst others Cliff Richard, The Swinging Blue Jeans, and Billy Fury.
There are elements of rock, psych, and folk in Jimmy s writing and playing, all included on this brilliant album. Both sides of the vinyl gleam with the original lacquered sheen fully intact.
The vinyl is totally flat and appears to be in as good a condition as when it was originally purchased.
Under a bright light there are just few of the faintest wispy hairlines in evidence but it is clear that this record has only had a few plays.
Truly excellent.
The labels are pristine.
Not even the usual faint trace of spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole.
NEAR MINT The gorgeous non-laminated gatefold sleeve, designed by Keef, is superb.
All of the edges and corners are perfectly defined, as is the spine except for a very slight compression at the top of the spine - minor , all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy, and there are no obvious blemishes at all.
If I m being really picky I can say that I have detected a few very, very light scuff marks on the bottom edge but even these are sporadic and negligible.
A minor blemish I have just noted are two small, 2cm indentation lines towards the bottom of the gatefold on both the front and reverse side - you need to get the gatefold cover in the right light in order to notice these so, again, a minor blemish.
EXCELLENT The audio quality is truly excellent.
In fact I would go so far as to say that the audio quality is near faultless were it not for 16 mild clicks click is too stronger word - more like 16 intermittent mild crackle sounds with just a little at the beginning of track 4 on side 1.
On really close inspection and even under a bright light there is no obvious reason for this mild clicking - there are no scratches on this record whatsoever and you virtually need a magnifying glass to detect the sporadic wispy hairline or mild surface only paper scuff.
Very frustrating Other than this relatively minor blemish the audio quality is superb.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for more than 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960 s and 70 s origin.
Most of my records were originally bought by myself for my own collection, but over the years I have embellished my collection by buying records from a variety of sources : friends/acquaintances, car boots, auctions, and even through putting up a vinyl wanted notice in my wife s shop.
I never intended selling any of my records but now I am retired and a combination of space requirements, caused partly by duplication and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to rationalise my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I ll sort out the problem.
I offer a no questions asked refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners.
I take great care in removing the record from the outer sleeve in order to prevent sleeve damage in transit.
I do NOT profiteer from postage costs.
I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it s destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it.
For items that sell for over 40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon Royal Mail 1st class, tracked and signed for so please wait for an invoice before paying.
Good luck with your bidding.
