Up for auction is the 2nd out of two United Artists instrumental single records released in September, 1964 which was recorded by George Martin and His Orchestra for The Beatles A Hard Day s Night soundtrack. This issue s picture sleeve design shows a black and white photo of The Beatles at an airport and has a vivid blue background on the front. This incredibly rare picture sleeve is very often referred to as the Blue Airport Sleeve . The back side of the sleeve displays a black and white Robert Freeman s photo of the band members standing with George Martin which was previously used on Martin s 1st UA album Off The Beatles Track . The catalog number UA 750 is located on the front cover on the right above the photo. The layout, graphics and text of the blue upper portion of the sleeve is similar to the red upper sleeve of the 1st United Artists George Martin single. The 1st UA 745 instrumental single record that is also currently listed at our auction comes with a picture sleeve that repeats the LP cover design of the A Hard Day s Night album having the same photos of the boys and red background, and therefore, is commonly referred to as the red picture sleeve. This promotional copy contains the rarest United Artists white promo label variation showing two horizontal black lines, running across the label, and Disc Jockey Not For Sale banner. The majority of label variations of this promotional issue don t contain the Disc Jockey banner. This promotional vinyl was pressed at the Columbia Records, Terre Haute, IN plant as identified by the hand-etched T in the runout grooves on both sides. The full 1st pressing matrix numbers are as follows: Side 1 I Should Have Known Better ZTSP-92814-1G T1 Side 2 A Hard Day s Night ZTSP-92815-1H T1.
