REVIEW
This might seem like an odd album to give 5
stars too. Truth be told, it s an extremely tight and high-quality
compilation of North Indian folk and dance music, though a lot of it has
a distinctive cinema soundtrack quality to it. This album would
probably get four stars from me, if were not for the inclusion of what I
have felt for years is my favourite Indian song of all time: Hae O Mere
Dadhea, sung by Surinder Kaur. The melody fills me with such hope, and
it has one of the most killer hooks. Though I m aware now that it s a
lament from a daughter who is leaving home to move in with her new
in-laws after marriage. I want to do something with that hook some day.
