The CD recorded Artists of a Poetry Festival in Bristol. The release date is not written on the CD.
To
the best of our knowledge this is the FIRST OFFICIAL Banksy artwork
on a music medium. In 1998 Banksy was still largely unknown and earned
his money by designing records and CD covers, among other things.
Therefore, with a few exceptions, only the cover designs from the period
1998-2004 are truly official and authorized cover designs by Banksy, or
authorized uses of his artworks. This is the case with this CD and is
what makes it so special. Banksy s involvement is explicitly stated on
the back of the CD.
The fact that this is presumably the first
ever CD cover design is also confirmed by the fact that the artwork
dates from a time when Banksy was still spraying graffiti freehand ,
i.e. before he switched to the stencil technique that ultimately made
him one of the most important artists of our time.
The original artwork was painted by Banksy in Bristol between 1990-1998 and can be seen in the last photo.
This
CD is a collection of spoken texts from the Bristol poetry scene.
Significantly, this CD comes directly from Banksy s home town of
Bristol.
Due to the age of the CD, only very few copies are still
in circulation. So don t miss out on the opportunity to acquire a real
piece of Banksy history.
