Up for auction are the original collectible items dedicated to The Beatles Yellow Submarine animated film released by United Artists in 1968. Two months after the film, Apple Records released the original motion picture soundtrack under the same title. The enormous popularity of the film led to the manufacturing of a large quantity of memorabilia. The currently listed memorabilia items are one of the rarest and most collectible ones.
Original 1st US Apple Records pressing Special Promotion issue of The Beatles Yellow Submarine released on January 13, 1969, the band s 17th album that came out in the US. As a rule, the covers of this album s promotional copy have a Capitol Records perforated FREE punch hole at the top right corner. Unlike those issues, the currently listed copy contains a large 3 x 3 Day-Glo Special Promotion red sticker affixed to the top right corner underneath the shrink wrap. It could be assumed that Special Promotion copies were intended for the different purpose than the common promotional copies. Without any doubts, the copies with the Day-Glo sticker come across much rarer than the promotional copies with a perforated FREE punch hole. The top left corner of this special promotion copy contains an Apple Records punch hole. The currently listed factory sealed copy contains the music from the animated film of the same name that was released in July, 1968. Yellow Submarine could also be fully considered a George Martin s album as Side 2 contains the music he composed for the film. The record is in marvelous factory sealed condition with the fully intact shrink containing two original breathe holes on the front cover.
Original 1968 deluxe edition Charles Hansen Publication DeLuxe Modern World Library No. 135 56-page Yellow Submarine illustrated color songbook whose main feature is the presence of one of the rarest and collectable Yellow Submarine posters. Most of the time, this poster would get detached from the magazine by its owners and would be sold separately, but finding it is practically impossible and the copies of the rare songbook you might come across with won t have the poster inside. This large 21 x 16 color poster contains the image of the yellow submarine created by Heinz Edelmann against the celestial blue background and remains intact being affixed to the interior of the back cover. Besides the large poster, this illustrated songbook contains many portraits of Paul, John, George and Ringo suitable for framing, the illustrations from the film by Heinz Edelmann as well as the lyrics and notes to all of the songs from the Yellow Submarine album in addition to the four songs from the Sgt. Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. The songbook s middle spread contains the film s synopsis and liner notes by Dan Davis, which subsequently were used on the back cover of the LP album, and would also look great when framed.
Original 1968 calendar for the upcoming 1969 year. The 24-page illustrated calendar contains date windows for notes, the birthday of each Beatle along with the holidays and many pictures with the film s artwork. The last page of the calendar contains the credits at the bottom reading 1968 by King Features-Subafilms, Ltd. Produced in the U.S.A. by Western Publishing Company, Inc. Published by Golden Press, New York, N.Y.
The album is in great vintage Mint Minus condition, only having a light push-in to the top left corner as this corner was weakened by the Apple Records promotional punch hole. Aside from this, this factory sealed copy is in stunning condition. The very rare original Yellow Submarine songbook with the intact poster is also in wonderful vintage condition only having some light signs of use and shelf wear on the front and back cover. The original Yellow Submarine calendar has the fully intact pages with some of the date windows containing light occasional notes and doesn t have any tears or missing pieces.
