Record Grading is M Sealed , NM, VG , VG , VG, VG-, G. Mint is only used with sealed LPs, NM is a record that is for all intents and purposes perfect, VG has no feelable marks and only the slightest evidence of handling or play. VG is a high-grade used LP that shows minor wear. VG does not have feelable marks but has scattered marks and may play with light surface noise. A VG- record has either a lot of non-feelable marks or a few feelable marks. It will play with not-overpowering surface noise and should not skip. A G rating is usually a heavily worn record, but which is still listenable.
Cover Grading is NM, VG , VG , VG, VG- and G. NM is a cover with a virtually perfect surface, with almost no, or not any, wear, whitening or creasing. It is close to perfect, almost interchangeable with mint. VG is a more typical grade for a cover, and is a cover which is beautiful but may have very slight imperfections. We don t grade cutouts higher than VG . VG is a high grade which shows slight overall wear but no major problems such as scuffing or whitening around the edges. VG has edge wear, small imperfections like writing, blobs or tears, but is still strong visually. VG- is an intact cover with small splits under 3 typically with various issues including small tears, writing, cutout marks, etc. G is a cover which, while presentable, has major issues like seams entirely split, large tears or writing etc.
