Item Description
Nirvana Love Buzz / Big Cheese 45 rpm 7 SP23Released November 1988OriginalSub Pop Singles Club.
Sub Pop started in 1986 by Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman in Seattle, Washington.
By 1988 the two decided to begin a monthly release of 7 singles from their up and coming signed bands.
Nirvana s was chosen for the beginning.
And here it is.
Initially set for release as the Debut Single for the 1st Volume of the Sub Pop Singles Club 1000 hand-numbered copies with red felt marker , as well as, 200 additional copies with a line across the number space on the sleeve, thus remaining unnumbered.
And for this session, Why don t you trade those guitars for shovels? measuring at 2mm, and without quotation marks as well is etched upon Side A.
The 200 additional copies were designated to be given out to people involved and various employees of the company.
Subsequently there are more than one test pressing around from the sessions as well, and each are different too.
That said, there is a lot of misinformation on the web regarding the entirety of the pressings.
Erroneously, some will argue that there is in fact only 1000.
The 200 additional are dismissed.
Because of the various test pressings some have certain markings, some do not.
Of the 1000 hand numbered it is a fact that it has the slight quip etched upon it.
Though some following do not.
A source has stated, the run out groove message was not present on all pressings.
Therefore 25 years after the release, some things have been obfuscated all the more from the incorrect statements that follow these records.
Furthermore, side A s single Love Buzz features a 10-second sound collage intro initially transferred and rerecorded at 30-seconds, but edited to 10-seconds at Sub Pop s request and another sound collage both originally recorded by Kurt dubbed into the instrumental section.
It s just barely audible underneath the guitar noise , says the producer, Endino.I ve been the original owner of this record since new, from the beginning.
I actually got it and BLEACH together.
That record has sold and is recorded in my feedback.
I got in touch with Krist Noveselic as of recent and he signed this record on the inside sleeve.
He knows that I wasn t interested in personally keeping the record.
For validation of his signature I m including three additional photos that someone gave me permission to use in the auction.
These are now personally owned by him, and are not for sale.
Krist s signature from today is the very same as when I was at a show in 1993 and all except for Pat signed the jeans of someone else who accompanied me backstage. The old Sub Pop coupon and old catalog caricature isn t a part of the auction either, though it s almost from the same point in time.
Very close.
