PINK FLOYD - 'DARK SIDE OF THE MOON'
This superb sounding UK 1st pressing of this iconic album dates from initial March 1973 release.
This very early example is on the black/solid blue triangle EMI/Harvest label: SHVL 804
Matrix numbers: SHVL 804 A-2 & SHVL 804 B-2
Stamper codes: 1/M & 2/H
Disc weight: 144g
Housed in a dark blue 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed gatefold cover.
The opening of the front panel sealed with a fold over flap that is glued from the inside.
Complete with: matte 'Pyramid' & group posters & 2x brown & yellow graphics stickers with "Permanent" on the back.
Also with die-cut black poly-lined inner sleeve with patent numbers and "Made in Great Britain" printed in silver along the bottom edge.
Labels: NEAR MINT
A superb set bearing just 4/5 light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Immaculate unworn deep-gloss playing surfaces which are unmarked in strong daylight. Even close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals a few faint wispy paper hairlines consistent with the handful of times the disc has been removed from the inner and a faint mark on the side 1 run-out caused by inner-sleeve storage. Tough to find a better looking disc.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
This copy has been played just a handful of times on quality equipment and is easily one of the best sounding copies I have heard. My careful play-check at volume detected some regulation low-level vinyl background at the beginning of 'Speak To Me' and in some of the other quieter passages, but no groovewear distortion, clicks, pops or any other audible distractions whatsoever.
A highly respectable example of this early & correct 1st issue cover.
The front panel has slight storagewear towards the upper & lower edge, but no 'thumbnail's, spine wrinkles or any other wear of note.
There is minor shelfwear to the lower corners but all are square and unbumped and the opening edges are sharp and unworn.
Both panels inside the gatefold are clean with a touch of storage towards the upper edges, but are otherwise unblemished.
The rear panel has a very faint disc impression from storage but again there is no further significant signs of wear.
The unworded spine is has a small scratch towards the lower corner but all seams are unstressed & unsplit.
Posters: EXCELLENT +
Both are still factory-folded and have never been hung.
A few gentle storage wrinkles but no tears, writing or seam splits. This item is located in and will be shipped from AUSTRIA via trackable insured airmail (which to the UK is 12 GBP)
