ALPHATAURUS Magma MAGL 18001 Matrix : MAGL-18001-A 6/2/73 MAGL-18001-B 6/2/73 True FIRST ISSUE 1973 pressing, from Italy.
With original ROMA stamp on label DISC VG LABELS Mint COVER VG LABELS are MINT.
There is virtually no spindle marks or damage to the spindle hole, leading me to believe this disc has only been played once, maybe twice One of those plays was by me, to determine the sound quality There is a ROMA stamp on the side A label, adding verification that this is a true first issue Italian pressing.
The VINYL is a strong VG .
Examination under a strong light reveals very minimal paper scuff, which came from the original inner sleeve which is still with the record The cover is a tri-fold NON laminated ORIGINAL ISSUE, with a semi gloss sheen showing little wear.
This album has been obviously stored for decades, because the colors are still vivid.
7 1/2 inches of the lower front cover has what appears to be water damage.This damage is evident on the inside of that front cover as a mild 5 inch stain, again only at the bottom.
There is also a bit of water stain visible at the rear of the dove on the cover, which can also be seen inside the first cover fold.
Water damage is only visible on the other two cover parts upon close examination of the bottom of the cover.
It is difficult to see if you don t know to look.
The upper corner of the spine shows a small bit of fray, still all intact.
The spine has full and clear print, and is not crushed.
If it were not for this water damage which I ve tried to describe in detail, and the corner fray, this cover would easily grade a STRONG VG .
I ve played this album once to see how it plays.
Clean, clear and strong with very minimal dust noise.
After play/grading, the record was then cleaned on a VPI machine.
I see now why this is such a progressive masterpiece, and so much in demand.
I don t really need to tell you how great it is.
