Item Description
4 x CD,Compilation
Four CD's in one multi unit Jewel case. Full text of liner notes (booklet, first interior page): "... UP THE CROSSROADS ... is, by no means a "Greatest Hits" or "Best of...", it's mainly a selection of rarities, outtakes, obscurities, rare concert recordings and a few unreleased gems spanning 25 years of Eric's career. It is intended to coexist with the other regular releases and complement them: some tracks have been added simply because "completists" feel they must own them and are forced to spend great sums to acquire a single CD or Radio show just for one or two songs! It is not easy to please all Clapton fans, and although listening to his music is usually always very enjoyable, each of them has their own tastes as to his style or preferences regarding the period of his career that, I believe, is punctuated by many "Crossroads", be it musically or personally. By the way, please excuse us for having used photos of Lori and Conor, but I thought that, at the time, "Lady from Verona" was a happy song, so these seemed the most appropriate. A couple of thanks: first Sonya. When we met on the train to Windsor, that unforgettable day of the 1966 England v. Germany World Cup match, I was listening to the Beatles and the Stones, and was on my way to the Jazz & Blues Festival to see The Who and she told me about this young incredibly good guitarist from the Yardbirds that had formed a "supergroup" with just a bass player and a drummer...! Hers are the three b&w snapshots of Cream at the Marquee (note Eric's unique guitar!). I had taken the colour ones on their debut gig there on sept.29th. That night Buddy Guy was there too! This is possibly the first time Eric met his "Hero", but their roads would cross many times again in the future. We have used the best technical means necessary digital editing and mastering, de-noising and de-clicking as well as first class graphics for this splendid booklet. I hope you enjoy it! R. T."
