1812 Overture was recorded December 4, 1954 in Northrop Memorial Auditorium.

The cannon, courtesy of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, used in this recording was a 6 pound bronze muzzle loader made at Strasbourg, France in 1761. The cannon shot was recorded on January 20, 1955.

The bells in 1812 Overture were recorded at Harkness Tower, Yale University.
