"This recording of the Verdi REQUIEM reproduces the actual perform-
ance of the work in Carnegie Hall, January 27, 1951, before a
capacity audience within the auditorium and a nationwide radio audi-
ence which heard it via the network facilities of the National Broad-
casting Company. The recording was made possible by the cooperation
of the American Federation of Musicians, which arranged for RCA
Victor technicians and engineers to set up microphones on stage
at Carnegie Hall and record the actual performance."
