Item Description
Vinyl, LP Single Sided Promo
Fifteen 30-second and 60-second radio spots, promoting the songs on the RAM LP. Side two has a blank play groove. Also two letters included - one from Paul & Linda, one from Diane Brooks of McCartney Productions, Inc.
Recorded by Paul & Linda, assembled & mastered by Eirik Wangberg.
500 copies pressed, according to Wangberg, some sources say 1000.
!!! BEWARE !!! This LP has been counterfeited MANY times, and nearly all the copies sold as "genuine" are fake!
Also, most fakes have the correct matrix number, so that is NOT an indicator for a genuine pressing. The matrix number on the fakes does look a little more scrawly, though.
Things to look for in an original are:
1. The original LP label had a pressing ring size of 1.5" diameter (!) around the spindle hole. All pressings with a larger (or no) pressing ring are fake.
(The LP was pressed at [l313266], as denoted by the ✲ in the matrix - because of the machines they used, all of their LPs had the 1.5" pressing ring.)
2. The original LP has (optically) totally identical spacings between the individual tracks, most fakes have different spacings.
3. The letters in both genuine and fakes may or may not have watermarks. Some fakes carry the watermark "Gold Crest Bond" (unfortunately, also often advertised as genuine).
4. Originally released in an all white cover with a sticker featuring the RAM logo in yellow and purple. Some were issued in either a plain white jacket or the standard Ram cover. Copies having the RAM logo on the cover in all black print are fakes.
