A3 Notes: The Italia lyrics had nothing to do with Major Tom's predicament in space but instead addressed the loneliness of two people. The title translates into an almost indecipherable song about a lonely boy and a lonely boy.
A4 Notes: Slower, longer version.
A7 Notes: A well-known German ending from Bowie's Brecht-interpretation.

B1 Notes: A Spanish-language version, known as "Dia Tras Dia" was recorded in 1987 in order to boost interest in Bowie's first-ever concerts in Spain as part of his Glass Spider Tour (1987). It earned a single airing on Spanish radio prior to the concerts and was never released as a stand-alone single, but for download in 2007.

C2 Notes: This record has been available for RCA record club members.
C3 Notes: This record was pressed to promote the album with the same name. The short edit included here was played a lot on French radio at the time.
C5 Notes: Bowie recorded two versions of the song from the "tin Machine" album in 1997, one for the film "The Ice Storm" and a different version for inclusion on his album "earthling". The latter, longer version was not released outside of a CD single until its inclusion on the limited "Is It Any wonder?" EP in 2020 and the "brilliant Adventures" box set. The shorter film version included here is taken from the now rare CD single from 1997, released only in three countries - and on the soundtrack CD.
C6 Notes: Promo and download-only edit; original long version released on the 2018 album "80ies Symphonic".

D2 Notes: Song from the film "Labyrinth"

Whenever possible, the original analog mixes have been used for this compilation.
