1983-85 rainbow label with rim text inside color-band. Gatefold cover. No booklet.

This one was pressed at Capitol's Jacksonville plant as identified by a "0" in the matrix runout. On some pressings, the MASTERED BY CAPITOL stamp is only on one of the sides. The label has a dull label finish and has a 1" pressing ring. Some pressings are translucent (hold the disc up to a bright light and you can seed through it) and the vinyl is a little more firm than than later SRC or Allied pressings.

PRESSING DETAILS:
-Capitol had already dropped the 24-page book from the cover and replaced the text with a purple bar over the line mentioning the book.
-Inside cover credits now states, after track A6: "All side-one selections are published by Comet Music Corp, ASCAP" while after track B5 is stated "All side-two selections are published by Maclen Music, Inc, BMI"
-As with most US stereo pressings, tracks B3, B4 & B5 are "fake" stereo mixes.
-Back cover now has Capitol oval logo and EMI logo with text along the bottom
-Printed on posterboard stock
-Comes with clear rice paper inner sleeve

Runouts are etched, except for MASTERED BY CAPITOL and 0 which are stamped. Variant 2 Side A appears to have been etched as ST but the MAL was incorporated into the etching.

Later 1986-87 rainbow label releases were pressed at either Specialty or Allied, and have two pressing rings (sloped 72mm outer ring and 35mm inner ring). The Specialty and Allied pressings may have more etching data in the run-out. The vinyl is a little more flexible/bendy than Jacksonville pressings. There may also be a similar-era RCA pressing as well (with 1" pressing ring).
