Item Description

Vinyl, , 2nd cover,LA
LP Compilation Stereo Mono

This album is a compilation of tracks that were considered rare in the US at the time. B-sides and other tracks that hadn't been on any Capitol album, different mixes etc.

Also known for reproducing the infamous "butcher shot" for the first time since Yesterday & Today in 1966, on the inside gatefold.

There are 3 cover variations. This one is #2:

#1
-The photo on the front is raised/embossed
-George Martin's producer credit is missing from the back lower left corner
-The liner notes incorrectly state "There's A Place" had not been released in stereo in the US before, and credits John (rather than Ringo) with the blisters remark at the end of "Helter Skelter", "so you don't hear the classic Lennon statement...".

#2
-Both the cover photo and the photos on the back are raised/embossed
-George Martin's producer credit is now on the lower left corner on the back. This carries over to version #3.
-Under "Helter Skelter" it now states "...so you don't hear the classic statement..." and the "There's a Place" statement about being in stereo for the first time in the US has been omitted. This carries over to version #3.

#3
-The photos on the front and back are no longer raised/embossed (starting 1985)
-George Martin's producer credit is present
-Under "Helter Skelter" it now states "...so you don't hear the classic statement..." and the "There's a Place" statement about being in stereo for the first time in the US has been omitted.

-Pressed at Capitol's Los Angeles factory, as identified by ✲ in the run-outs.
-Some copies came with a 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" hype sticker on the shrinkwrap stating "Contains Rare Photos Including "Butcher" shot" (see photo)
-Some pressings are translucent vinyl (hold up to a bright light and you can see through it)

For the cover #1 variation (Jacksonville): [r461996]
