An original 1973 pressing. [l=Customatrix] stamp with no pressing plant info in runout etching; label variations (see images and description below).

Gatefold jacket has "Carpenters" logo embossed on front and (smaller) back.
Interior of front logo, outer "frame" of jacket, and inner "frame" on rear are printed in a glossy brown; remaining brown on jacket is matte finish. Gold in highlights.
Spine at right end has "0698" price code followed by ℗ info and "Printed in U.S.A.".

Label a cream/white background overprinted with a fine silver screening, large A&M in brown.
Carpenters logo above release title, track titles in 2 columns.
Label very similar to that of [r3190247] but spacing between track names (see space between "Superstar" and "Rainy Days"), and between title and Carpenters logo, slightly different.
Label also similar to [r611451] but A&M logo at bottom is larger, closer to side number (1 or 2), and is more centered below center hole and bottom credits.

Release includes a 12 page song booklet; full color original inner sleeve features other 1970-1973 releases interspersed with rainbow drawing.

SP 3601 appears on spine and front of sleeve and on inner sleeve, SP-3601 on labels, SP3601 appears inside booklet.
