WOW What an INCREDIBLE FIND
An OFFICIAL PROMO release from UNITED ARTISTS
Beatles LP-12 Vinyl PROMOTIONAL
A HARD DAY S NIGHT Open-End Interview Disc.
VERY RARE Issued by UNITED ARTISTS in JULY 1964.
GORGEOUS VINYL PLAY SURFACE.
Comes with original AUDIODISCS sleeve.
Exceptional
EXTREMELY RARE. Only a limited number probably less than 200 of these were ever pressed
Since there were never any official records kept indicating how many of these were physically
distributed and destroyed by the Disc Jockeys they were sent to ONLY in specific major markets ,
no one is certain how many have actually survived worldwide in today s collector s market. Most
importantly, what condition are the surviving discs in today? When these discs were being handled
by DJs, it is quite evident today, that in 1964 no one had ever given any thought to the possibility
that one day they might become highly sought after collectibles. But one thing is certain. You ll be
forever hard pressed to find another one of these with such a CLEAN SHINY VINYL PLAY
SURFACE or for that matter, in ANY CONDITION
This is 50 YEAR OLD PROMO 12 VINYL RECORD was produced by UNITED ARTISTS who also produced the
film A HARD DAY S NIGHT . The UA catalog number is SP-2359 as stated above. The VINYL is in remarkably
beautiful shiny condition retaining it s original luster. The LABELS are both NM as evidenced by photos posted.
The RARE ORIGINAL SLEEVE from AUDIODISCS is also included, which itself is extremely difficult to locate
in this day and age and hardly ever found with these records now after a half century. Normally left trashed
or discarded by the DJs of the time, this one is a BEAUTIFUL PRESERVED example of an extremely limited
PROMOTIONAL RECORD which was pressed in very limited quantities as stated herein and has remained
in wonderful condition.
PLAY TESTED: This vinyl record s play surfaces are beautifully preserved in their original luster not perfect, but pretty close.
They have also been PLAY TESTED and both sides play wonderfully with undisturbed sound clarity even with a very slight vinyl
warp that is actually only noticeable when spinning on a turntable with play totally unaffected. It s always been our policy to be as fair
and honest as we can possibly be to any potential buyer. The best policy is to always provide a complete description and also as many
detailed photos as possible The good news is that for those who feel the need, potential solutions always exist. We had brought this to
the attention of someone with experience in such matters and he had stated that this is a matter with a remedy when handled properly
if so desired and that this particular condition, was quite common when it came to many of the promotional vinyls of the time due to
the specific type of materials utilized. And since we are not experts in trying to alter the conditional of such items, we felt that due to it s
undisturbed play, why tamper with it, or better put, IF IT AIN T BROKE, DON T FIX IT . Here, our attitude is IT AIN T REALLY
BROKE . But we are not the buyer who s willing to spend serious money to purchase such a unique item, so we certainly understand
the need for a vinyl solution if a buyer requires one. But if you wish to purchase this AS IS, and you feel more comfortable bringing it
to the attention of someone you may feel more at ease with, simply let us know when buying it and we ll make SPECIAL FINANCIAL
ALLOWANCES. What does this really mean in terms of DOLLARS CENTS to a buyer? Whatever price this may ultimately sell for,
we re still quite flexible and will allow any buyer, a NEGOTIABLE DISCOUNT . In any case, it is important to always keep in mind,
that this overall piece is still a very beautiful example of a unique and limited promotional item of it s time. So, don t miss out
This is truly an important part of BEATLES RECORDING HISTORY
Matrix Numbers are: SP-2359 Side 1 and SP-2360 Side 2
It s IMPORTANT TO MENTION that during the 1960s play surfaces on these Vinyl PROMO
records were often quite hammered by most Disc Jockeys, but not this one VERY BEAUTIFUL
Aside from the earlier commercially released and more familiar A HARD DAY S NIGHT
Soundtrack LP, UNITED ARTISTS prepared these types of vinyl records afterwards, strictly
for the sole purpose of promoting the 1964 film here in the USA. These PROMO discs are now
considered to be extremely RARE and quite collectible for a number of reasons. First, they were
PRESSED IN EXTREMELY LIMITED QUANTITIES and distributed ONLY to some selected RADIO
STATIONS and MOVIE THEATERS in major markets. Second, due to the fact that these records
were only manufactured for the sole purpose of promoting the movie, DJs and Theater owners
routinely and unfortunately discarded most of these very scarce and unique pieces of recording
history, once the movie was released, never realizing how collectible they may someday become.
Open-End interview records enabled DJs to give listeners the impression that they were actually
conducting exclusive interviews with THE BEATLES when in fact this was simply an illusion.
This was a process that with the use of scripted statements and questions along with moments of
silence, created the illusion that allowed the Radio personalities to make one think that actual
personal interviews were being conducted then and there. This was a technique commonly used
by all record companies of the day in the same manner. Here, UNITED ARTISTS prepared
this unique package containing a SPECIAL HALF HOUR OPEN-ENDED INTERVIEW.
SIDE 1 contains an OPEN-END INTERVIEW mixed with SONGS COMMERCIALS promoting
the movie. SIDE 2 contains only an INTERVIEW WITH NO MUSIC or COMMERCIALS. The disc
was issued in an AUDIODISCS light brown inner sleeve w/ RED PRINT INCLUDED , placed in
a plain white unlabeled rigid jacket INCLUDED .
What is the value of this record? You can throw out all price guides when it comes to rare items
like this. These PROMOS are NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANYWHERE especially in as nice
a condition as this one is in and we have priced it accordingly
A Tremendous find for any serious BEATLE collector
EXTREMELY RARE
