Item Description

CARAVAN - CARAVAN , Verve Forecast SVLP 6011 Stereo, 1969.
Extremely rare, UK very first pressing LP of the classic debut LP by Caravan.
The front laminated, flipback sleeve with it s original pillar artwork, gold label and matrix numbers ending in A-1 and B-1 mark this out as the very first pressing.
Matrix numbers
SIDE A SVLP 6011 A-1
SIDE B SVLP 6011 B-1
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a new poly-lined inner sleeve the original inner has been retained for originality- see photo
CONDITION:
VINYL V.G. No deep/big scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Pretty clean labels with light to average spindle trails and a little bit of faint foxing - see photos. In any light, especially under a strong direct light, this LP is peppered with light superficial surface marks... based purely on it s visual appearance, this record would have been a grade lower. But surprisingly, this LP actually plays much better than it s appearance suggests it will - typical of well pressed 60s vinyl with it s lovely deep grooves
Generally the sound quality of the music itself is very good and strong, it s certainly not suffering distortion or muffling that you would associate with over playing, which correlates with the fairly clean labels. Saying that, as this record plays out it can t completely avoid it s cosmetic imperfections, there is a some faint surface noise audible in some quieter and silent sections, plus a few faint crackles and soft clicks in the background from time to time. Definitely no loud thunks, skips or other imperfections that would completely write this LP off though.
Ceratinly a record with it s flaws, but to my mind these imperfections definitely do not ruin the listening experience and as long as you re expecting a a 60s record that s lived a little and not some sterile CD reissue, it s still a decent playable copy of a very rare original LP. IMO still has enough going for it to be enjoyed as originally intended and should sell for a more lower price than the crazy values premium archive copies are now hitting.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay
SLEEVE V.G. No rips, no tears, no defacing, or heavy ring wear, seam splits, etc. But does suffer some pronounced creasing in the laminate, some light normal wear to the edges and corners and other signs of previous use - see photos for further clarification
