Item Description

PLEASE PLEASE ME, PARLOPHONE PMC 1202.

FULLY PLAY TESTED OCTOBER 23RD.

The first official Beatles LP, released in March 1963, was the only time the mono version was released before the Stereo addition. The album contained both sides of their first two singles, plus ten new songs. All recorded in one session at Abbey Road, lasting 16th, and costing just 400.

Own a piece of music history with this original first pressing of The Beatles Please Please Me LP on black and gold label from Parlophone. Technically, it s the rarer 2nd press, as it has the corrected Northern Songs credit, rather than Dick James credits, for I Saw Her Standing There , Misery , Do You Want To Know A Secret , and There s A Place . Also with 33 1/3 on the label This mono record features 14 classic tracks, including Love Me Do and Twist and Shout . The vinyl is in VG condition, with some hairlines/handling marks/light scratches, while the original Emitex polythene-lined Use Emitex die-cut inner sleeve, and Angus McBean Ernest J.Day Co. cover, with large Mono to the top right of the front, are both included.

The second press has a black label with gold print and Parlo Co. Ltd printed on the perimeter. Northern Songs correct publishing credit for I Saw Her Standing There , Misery , Do You Want To Know A Secret , and There s A Place . Also with 33 1/3 on the label.

The alteration to Northern Songs , occurred quite quickly, as apparently, the credits typesetter wasn t told that the Beatles had worked with Dick James to set up their own, Northern Songs publishing company for Lennon McCartney s original songs. These copies are considerably rarer than those with Dick James credits.

AUDIO. VG

I ve play tested the record in its entirety today, twice, and there is a very momentary skip on Misery . If not for this, I d grade the audio as excellent, if not excellent plus, as it plays beautifully. Very little surface noise, even between tracks, and very little in the way of pops and clicks.

VINYL: VISUALLY VG

A deep sheen to both sides, with some light hairlines/scratches and handling marks. See photos . Nothing feelable.

LABELS: VG

Labels to both sides are in VG condition.

Side1:

Clean, and graffiti free, with some spindle ware.

Side 2:

As side 1, with just a little more ware to the centre hole, but still very strong.

MT embossed tax code.

SLEEVE. GOOD PLUS

The first press EJ Day flip-back sleeve, is good . It s distinguishable by the photo credit for the front cover, by Angus McBean, being to the bottom right corner, with the P of photo, directly under the last S of songs.

Significant ware to the bottom flip-backs, along with a seam split. The back panel is graffiti free, but has had some tape repair to the left side. The front panel, again, has some tape repair, and what looks like an original price sticker to top right corner. The spine is strong, and easily legible, though there is edgeware on all sides. Please see photos, which show all sleeve edges .

EMITEX INNER. EXCELLENT PLUS

The original poly-lined Use Emitex inner, is again in excellent plus condition. No rips, tares or seam splits, and very little creasing. Superb.

This first press Mono Please Please Me LP, is a must-have for any Beatles fan or vinyl collector and is sure to bring joy and nostalgia with every spin. In VG all round condition, it s not only a very rare record, but is also in the correct first press sleeve, with original Emitex inner.
