echo2ndhandThe Pink Floyd
Piper At The Gates Of DawnORIGINAL 1967 UK MONO 1st PRESSING
Columbia Records SX 6157 - Mono
- 12-inch 33rpm, 10-track vinyl LP
- matrix [stamped to run-off area] XAX 3419 -2 G 1 & XAX 3420 -1 G 1 [there are no other markings other than those mentioned here]
-
silver & blue on black matt labels with 'Sold in U.K....' text,
tax-code 'K T' [embossed to side 1 either side of the spindle hole]
- made in Gt. Britain by EMI
- with laminated front sleeve printed by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London- no 'File Under Pop' text to reverse, denotes 1st pressing
- with it's original generic black & white EMI LP advertising inner sleeve
VINYL: GOOD - labels: clean, mild spindle marks can be seen under intense light, with a little wear around the spindle hole- vinyl: vinyl has been professionally machine cleaned, it is flat, listened all the way through, visually looks VERY GOOD, the vinyl has a cared for appearance although it has been played many times, it plays with mild crackle throughout, in some passages of play this can intensify- please note: there is an issue with side.1 track.6 as there is a spiral scratch which manifests itself initially as a 'thump' [played on my Linn LP12 turntable /Rega RB300 arm /Supex SM5 cartridge] & continues to play through the remaining grooves - however on other equipment this will/may possibly jump & skate across most of the remaining grooves to the run-off area
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
- clean, no writing, sticker damage or splits, the sleeve is absolutely superb for it's near 50 years, clean, the spine is strong in structure & clarity, it is practically faultless
OVERALL COMMENTS: for me this is the only
example I have ever seen & it has been well cared for with the one
previous owner from new although it has been played frequently in
it's history which does have a bearing on how it plays, however it could
still be seen by many collectors as the ultimate upgrade:
