Item Description

DAVID BOWIE - DAVID BOWIE Released the same day as Sgt Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band June 1st 1967 , Bowie s debut album was, despite heavy promotion and a single release, a commercial failure.
He didn t release another album until Space Oddity two years later.
This 1st UK MONO pressing sold barely any copies and represents a solid investment opportunity to any serious record collector.
It is on the two-tone, deep-groove, Decca pressed Deram label: DML 1007 Matrix numbers: ARL 7754-1B ARL 7755-1B Stamper codes: 1/U 1/B Disc weight: 146g Housed in a front laminated Clout Baker printed mono cover, with original poly-lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION Disc Labels: NEAR MINT A perfectly clean unblemished set bearing just two tiny spindle trails around the side 1 centre hole, but none whatsoever on label 2.
Visual: NEAR MINT This copy has clearly been out of its cover just a couple of times over the past 47 years and both playing surfaces are pristine and unmarked in strong daylight.
Close examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than some harmless inner-sleeve storage marks a sparkling rainbow shine.
Both sides of this exceptional copy lie 100 flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: NEAR MINT This wonderful sounding copy has been played just once of twice at most and the dedicated mono mix shines through cleanly and clearly, with a warmth and depth missing from the stereo mix.
My play-check detected absolutely no sign of any groove/play wear on any track or in either channel, or any ticks, clicks or other such distractions.
In fact, apart from a touch of low-level vinyl background between tracks, it is without fault and would not require upgrading.
Cover: VERY GOOD A respectable example of this fragile cover which retains a clean, glossy unfaded front panel, where the only significant blemish is a tear on David s nose.
There are several other small thumbnail wrinkles and some light bending to the upper right corner.
The corners themselves and opening edges are fault-free.
The rear panel is clean unblemished overall with just a hint of toning towards the opening edge.
Both seams are smooth unstressed and the split is fully worded and undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT This item is located in and will be shipped from AUSTRIA via trackable insured airmail which to the UK is 12 GBP Graded strictly conservatively in strong daylight directly beneath a halogen light to UK RECORD COLLECTOR standards We listen to every record we sell in its entirety on an EMT 950 transcription turntable fitted with a TSD 15 cartridge All images in this listing have been taken by ourselves and are of the actual item for sale Each record is packaged in custom-made record mailing boxes to ensure it arrives with you in the same condition it left us For more information on our grading/packaging policy, please see our About Me page If you would like to get the best price for your rare records, why not let us do all the work for you.
