London Disc Cutting Centre LTD acetate unique studio takes recorded on metal discs with thin vinyl covering , some of these will be different takes to the actual release. Luckily this has some handwritten details. Give Me Money is a song written by Plastic Penny s Paul Raymond also of UFO, Chicken Shack and Savoy Brown and Tony Murray also of The Troggs . A blown up heavy psych rock version of 2:55 minutes appeared on Plastic Penny-Currency album in 1969 on Page One records. This acetate runs at 2:08 minutes and seems a different, more basic recording. I have no idea if Mustard were a precursor to Plastic Penny or a completely different band who particularly liked that one track. It might be that this disc was cut to hawk their sound around the record companies and the song was later recorded again for the studio album?
Either way it is a very interesting piece of psych history, the disc is in very poor condition and I would not normally offer for sale a record in this state but someone might fancy it just for its uniqueness.

Poor/Worn

Unfortunately acetates were never made for longevity, they were just basic one off listening devices, hence the audio quality is never quite as standard as the final vinyl issues are.

1960/70s ones also have a tendency to corode due to the metal under the thin vinyl layer. This one has corroded quite badly with metal showing in a few small dots, there are lots of bumps and lumps where the vinyl has lifted/flaked.

It plays through, there is a fair bit of background noise, though the music just about overpowers it. Due to the lumps and bumps the record jumps and skips a handful of times and there are some ticks.

I think it is unlikely but there might be scope to clean up the recordings either manually or more likely digitally.

Please listen to actual record below before considering bidding.

Please listen to full sound files below. Links via Drop Box. What you hear is what you get though please bear in mind any distortion is likely to be from the digital transfer process and not the record itself if there are any jumps in the record it will be noted in the condition description If for any reason the sound files do not work, please let me know and I can email you the MP3s directly.

Audio and Pictures

I record all sound files direct from the record offered in this auction on an Audio Technica AT-LP60 USB turntable at a 128 bit rate with no sound manipulation. I have not always got the time to listen right through each track, if there are any jumps, skips, pops and crackles you will hear them and can bid accordingly. For this reason I do not accept returns on the basis of record condition. Please listen to them before bidding
