Item Description

Immensely rare white label test pressing of David s second LP, on the Philips label - later reissued as Space Oddity by RCA.
This, though, is a test pressing of the original album.
The label catalogue number and artist name are written in faded black felt tip pen, while the song titles have been written in red biro.
The record is in EX- condition with only very light marks consummate with the record being taken in and out of its sleeve a few times.
The matrix numbers are stamped into the run-out groove on each side.
The record is housed in its original Philips inner sleeve with plastic liner.
Very intriguingly, this inner sleeve is housed in a black card sleeve which appears to have an annotation from producer Tony Visconti on it.
It is written in black felt tip on a black card sleeve, so it is hard to read under normal light.
But it reads: Paul.
Love the mix T.V.
PS Mick Excels Could that refer to Paul Buckmaster and guitarist Mick Wayne? I really don t know - and cannot claim any real evidence in its favour.
I asked Tony Visconti about it via email and he told me he had no recollection of this.
So - either it has slipped Tony s mind or the outer sleeve is unconnected.
You decide Whatever, the test pressing itself is 100 per cent genuine and will surely take pride of place in any serious Bowie collection.
