20th century collectables is pleased to offer for sale this rare and very early 1963 UK 1st pressing on the black gold Parlophone labels with the earliest Dick James label credits.
This copy would have most certainly formed part of the original pressing run of the first 5,000 or so records pressed on the first day of production.
With single digit stampers from the 1st mother it can be considered to be the first of the first of this initial and historic pressing run.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N XEX 422-1N Stamper codes: 1/T 1/L 1st Mother with single digit stampers, one of the earliest copies pressed Please check out the pictures and read on for further details:- CONDITION Disc Labels: Side 1 EXCELLENT - Side 2 EXC /MINT- Side two is close to a nr MINT grading, fresh in appearance with unworn gold lettering and only little signs of spindle wear.
Similarly, side one has gold lettering which is mainly unworn with little signs of spindle wear.
There are what appears to be some stylus marks on side two.
Side 2 carries the MT tax code and both labels carry the earliest incorrect Dick James label credits.
Audio: EXCELLENT A superb sounding copy and testament to the quality of these early black gold pressings.
There is some light surface noise in places but there is no distortion or groovewear to any of the music signals.
The burst of energy of the opening track I saw her standing There is clear, crisp and totally undistorted.
Misery sounds superb with totally undistorted harmonies.
Side one grades more towards nr MINT with most tracks achieving a mint grade.
Side two grades more towards excellent with some light surface noise apparent at higher volume on the gaps and quieter passages but nothing which would interfere with the listening enjoyment.
All in all this is a great sounding disc with no real audio distractions.
There are no loud pops and ticks and the record does not jump or stick.
Visual: Side 1 VERY GOOD Side 2 VERY GOOD There is clear evidence that the record has been played.
It has general light scuffs and surface marks, however none of these marks, although visible in daylight, are feelable or could be described as scratches.
Whilst this is not a pristine mint copy it is neither a worn out copy where many sellers use the VG grading to off load records that are essentially unplayable.
The record has in the main been looked after since it was purchased in 1963, and this is evidenced by the quality of the audio, always an accurate indication as to the true condition of the vinyl.
The heavy duty vinyl lies 100 flat on the turntable.
Cover EXCELLENT - The vinyl comes in its original extra heavy duty 1963 Ernest J.
Day GOLD cover with the Angus McBean credit located to the extreme right hand corner.
The front panel has retained its high gloss laminate sheen and remarkably has no thumbnail creases.
There are no marks or scratches to the front panel.

There is some general light wear to the corners.
The rear panel is remarkably clean with no tape marks or any signs of writing or personalisation.
All flipbacks are strong and intact.
The spine is in nr perfect condition and completely undamaged with the words Please Please me The Beatles clearly visible.
A solid example of this rare cover and certainly in above average condition.
