Item Description

THE BEATLES - WE CAN WORK IT OUT / DAY TRIPPER This genuine UK demo of We Can Work It Out / Day Tripper Parlophone R 5389 was circulated to select DJs and press contacts just prior to its December 3rd 1965 release date.
This particular copy came from the collection of the late BBC broadcaster, Geoffrey Wheeler.
As nobody could agree on which should be the A side, BOTH over-sized labels bear a large red A the British release date 3.12.65 .
Both labels also carry the wording DEMONSTRATION RECORD - NOT FOR SALE and The Gramophone Co.
Ltd..
rim texts.
The KT purchase tax code is present in the centre of the We Can Work It Out label in both run-outs.
Matrix numbers: 7XCE 18341-4 7XCE 18342-1.
Stamper codes: 1/A 3/RL The disc is housed within its original green white Parlophone company cover.
CONDITION Disc Labels: EXCELLENT Both are clean and bright with a small handful of spindle trails, around each centre hole and no writing stickers or any other such blemishes.
Visual: VERY GOOD Both playing surfaces retain their deep-gloss shine but do bear several light fingernail scuffs hairlines, which are not deep or feelable.
Both sides lie 100 flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT This copy has received a moderate amount of play on broadcast-quality equipment and both tracks play cleanly and clearly without any trace of groove/playwear distortion.
There are a few light background ticks at the beginning of We Can Work It Out and slight background on the introduction of Day Tripper , but very little overall to spoil the listening enjoyment of this rarity.
