Item Description

ASHKAN - IN FROM THE COLD

A brilliant copy of this UK 1st press psych gem, with the sparingly played vinyl and crystal clear stereo audio quality being true highlights

Year/Label : 1969 UK DECCA nova SERIES
Label number : SDN-R 1
Matrix numbers : ZAL-9093.P-1W, ZAL-9094.P-1W
Stampers : 1 C / 1C

Truly excellent EX condition gleaming jet black sheen vinyl - in normal daylight each side of the vinyl comes across as unmarked and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that just a few non-obvious, non-feelable, and purely superficial paper scuff marks and wispy hairlines come into view - nothing to impinge upon the wonderful stereo sound quality, apart from one tiny non-feelable scratch on B4 that does result in x15 very mild, light background clicks. Excellent condition labels with just a few very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each. Clearly, this is a record that has been sparingly played. Front-side laminated very good plus VG condition original Robert Stace outer sleeve. All colours, photos, text and art work remain beautifully intact with firm largely unscuffed edges including a firm spine with unblemished spine text though there is some of the usual buckling along the spine itself. Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with minimal rubbing on each. No cardboard creasing, no unwanted writing and the opening edges remain firm with no fraying. There is a thin vertical strip of laminate lifting adjacent to the spine on the front side see photo , just the hint of some very mild ring wear towards the top edge on both the front and reverse side, some similarly very mild age discolouration next to the reverse side top edge, and a few 1cm or less surface laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine on the front side ,one of which does just impinge upon the spine and very slightly weakens the spine at that exact point - each of these blemishes is minor but I have nonetheless attempted to show them clearly in my photos so do take a good look. Near mint NM stereo audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, interference, distortion or background crackle. There is the very occasional and random very light click and a tiny non-feelable scratch on B4 that does result in x15 very mild, light and barely intrusive background clicks. Overall, great tone with crystal clear stereo audio quality and every track a great listen. Comes with near perfect blue and white poly-lined DECCA inner sleeve not original . I will ship the record in a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
Increasingly sought after, hard to find and the overall truly impressive condition of this UK 1st press makes it hard to believe that this copy is 55 years of age.

POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK 4 using Royal Mail tracked 48

for continental Europe 12 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world 16 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
