Item Description

Hi, and welcome to psych out auctions

I ve collected 50 s, 60 s, and early 70 s records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm n Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life Obviously, 90 of the LP s I ve ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock n roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10 ? Reluctantly, I ve decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there I m currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there Make no mistake, I ll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find

I aim to put a weekly batch up time permitting every Wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on Saturday night. I ll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I ve got I won t insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I m sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it s a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard none of this digitally remastered ,weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would ve been geniuses themselves? There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that s just a tiny example .

I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music I strictly grade all LP s I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and I ll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i ll be listing some gems that you just WON T want to miss out on

I think that s everything, so let the auction commence

Title : The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland

Label year : Original Black Track 613008/9 Double LP , UK Stereo 1968 ULTRA RARE inverted labels 1st Press

Matrix s : Side A : 613008 A // 1, Side B D : 613008 B v 2 420 , Side C B : 613009 A v 2 420 , Side D C : 613009 B // 2

FANTASTIC PLAYER - WELL USED BUT WITH AWESOME AUDIO FOR ONCE ULTRASONICALLY CLEANED FOR MAXIMUM FIDELITY - OUTSTANDING DON T underestimate the sheer rarity of this 1st press with day of release black Track labels with inverted matrixes above the catalogue number Yes, this doesn t have the impossibly rare blue text, but only a MINISCULE amount of sleeves EVER did - apparently all the sleeves were meant to be the blue text version, but as it was just going to press, Noel had a bust up with the management about the size of his picture being too small on the blue text version he possibly thought it undermined his contribution and many other tensions that had been building into a head like the sheer amount of hangers on in the studio e.t.c , ending in Noel quitting, and Jimi s management got revenge for being left in the lurch with upcoming tours being thrown into chaos e.t.c, by immediately halting the press and reducing the size of Noel s picture even further Petty, I know, but as a result, only an absolute TINY amount EVER had blue text, much like only a TINY amount of the first run of Are You Experienced ever had a fully laminated sleeve

I guess what i m trying to say is DON T confuse this as being a later issue - if you were to walk into a record shop on the day this was released, chances are you d be VERY lucky to even find ONE blue text version amongst the white sleeves on the rack Of course, there was only EVER one pressing of the 1st Press vinyl with the inverted labels as is the case with the labels here - it was mere months after the release date that the labels were redesigned to the more common though still very rare uninverted Track labels

Just like any of the Hendrix experience albums, this is one of THE BEST of all time containing some of THE GREATEST music EVER recorded Widely know as his masterpiece, the first two Experience LP s were recorded in a matter of days, this however took around a year a heck of a long time in those days It was worth it though. It could so easily have fallen apart like many painstaking works of genius such as Brian Wilson s unfinished legendary Beach Boys classic SMiLE , but he stuck with it and created a work of pure brilliance which has and will continue to transcend ALL time If you ve never heard Hendrix s original master mix and only the CD reissue, then you re going to be blown away This has got incredible psychedelic effects, MEAN bass and razor sharp lifelike clarity and detail And when Hendrix is jamming on songs like the long bluesy version of Voodoo Chile and Rainy Day, it sounds incredibly intimate as it floats over the backing band, JUST like his amp is in the room

It s easy to forget just how amazing this LP is what with Experience Hendrix doing their best to milk him dry with endless thrown together Best Of s over the years. But it was here on this Track original blasting out of my speakers now where the world first heard Crosstown Traffic ,Long Hot Summer Night ,Gipsy Eyes ,Burning Of The Midnight Lamp ,All Along The Watchtower ,Voodoo Chile ,and all the rest, not to mention the phenomenal boundary breaking 1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be for the very first time, as they intended to be heard, all in perfect running order, and all as one piece. It has forever secured it s place in the top 10 greatest albums of all time, and there it shall remain until the world blows up

Until that moment? Well, we should all listen to his records and be thankful that Jimi Hendrix was born

Tracklist : And The Gods Made Love, Electric Ladyland, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile, Little Miss Strange, Long Hot Summer Night, Come On Let The Good Times Roll , Gipsy Eyes, Burning Of The Midnight Lamp, Rainy Day Dream Away, 1983 A Merman I Should Turn To Be , Moon Turn The Tides...Gently Gently Away, Still Raining Still Dreaming, House Burning Down, All Along The Watchtower, and Voodoo Chile Slight Return .

Musicians : Jimi Hendrix - Vocals / Guitar / Bass / Harpsichord, Noel Redding - Vocals / Bass, Mitch Mitchell - Drums, plus countless other guests such as Stevie Winwood, Brian Jones, Al Kooper e.t.c.

About : Ultra Rare Original 1968 UK 1st Press This MASSIVELY RARE LP initially sold barely anything LP s were also really expensive to most people back then and therefore had a very small run, and is INCREDIBLY HARD TO FIND, especially in this condition AN absolute classic LP from this incredible band An astonishing album that really DESERVES to be in EVERY serious 60 s / 70 s record collection Don t miss out on this MEGA RARE LP If you like good music, bid now

The LP :

Labels :

Classic UK Original black Track inverted 1st Press labels All sides are GREAT with minimal signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever Just has some spindle marking from general use over the years GREAT for a 56 year old record All must grade overall at least as Good

Record : Visual -

Spectacular Original 1968 UK 1st Press Vinyls Nice bright, clean and shiny as if they were just pressed Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, they look OK with NO overly excessively nasty marks and nothing that ruins playback It just has quite a bit of general age wear such as a few of the usual light, wispy sleeve traces, some feelable scratches that look worse than how they sound, and a few mild hairlines only visible in angled light mostly from where it has sat or been removed from it s cover over the years. Of course, none of these blemishes interfere with play too much thanks to the quality deeply pressed 1st issue, and they CERTAINLY don t effect the smoothness of it s playing Well used and not looked after very well, but still GREAT for a record of this age and rarity And thankfully, it sounds AWESOME Both must grade overall visually at least as Fair graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL Customer satisfaction is of 100 importance to me

Record : Audio -

Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic stereo separation and clarity It really sounds GREAT with NO hops, distortion, sticks, or skips Only like pretty much all records has low level static in places such as on the run in grooves, a few ticks here and there on occasions, and just a touch of mild and light bluesman s fag static in few and far between places such as on some of the quieter sections, but it truly doesn t overshadow the music AT ALL I d even argue it gives it added soul An outstanding listen - The music is TRULY loud and clear with that bass, depth, warmth and clarity you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl Absolutely essential AWESOME for a record of this age and rarity Must grade overall audiably at least as Very Good graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL Customer satisfaction is of 100 importance to me

Sleeve :

Original UK 1st Press fully laminated 1968 gatefold E.J Day MEGA RARE white text sleeve with inners IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn and worn due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP This one is NOT too bad at all, and looks OK, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves NO writing, NO graffiti, NO excessively bad marks AT ALL, and still strong and solid after all these years Only has a few signs of usual ageing such as laminate creasing and a touch of a record imprint, some general surface glazing from where it has sat between sleeves over the years with with just a little discolouration to the bottom and lower left of the back, some denting/rounding to the four corners which basically ALL vintage LP s have, and POSSIBLY just to be sure one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all And that s truly about it I tend to bring it down by listing the most minor negatives I can possibly find, but this remains a good totally intact sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as presentable as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one The awesome inside pics also look AWESOME It remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt Must grade overall at least as Fair graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL Customer satisfaction is of 100 importance to me

Sorry for the camera flash reflection and for not having a photo of the front - ebay won t let me

Summary : A well used but BRILLIANT sounding example of this iconic INCREDIBLY RARE classic UK 1st Press LP with white text sleeve and IMPOSSIBLY RARE inverted matrixes Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS SONICALLY AWESOME AS THIS YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don t miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60 s/70 s music history Bid now

Please take a look at all my other auctions for many other ultra rare classic LPs, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks again for looking, it s truly appreciated Cheers

I ve realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system occasionally with a or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i m having real trouble deciding , so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100 perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps
