Item Description

Faith/Void - Split LP - Dischord Records 8 harDCore punk - 1982 First Pressing w/ red white labels - NEAR MINT

This LP technically has no title but is commonly known as the Split LP, issued by Dischord in September 1982 and featuring the first released recordings by both Faith and Void, whose influence far outlasted their brief longevity. This split album is recognized as one of the earliest examples of hardcore-metal crossover.

First pressing features white and red labels not blue and yellow and not made in France, and is reported to have sold out its limited run within two weeks. Includes two printed lyric sheet inserts, one for each band. Please feel free to verify features of various release versions on Discogs if you have any concerns.

Overall condition is Near Mint. Vinyl is NM, looks pristine. Sleeve is VG /EX with some light ring wear. Inserts are both NM, Void insert has a touch of wrinking and a slight corner bend. Faith lists their songs as being on Side 1 and Side A on the insert, suggesting that they were originally planning a solo EP release.

This was the only release by Void reputedly named after the Black Sabbath song Into the Void apart from three tracks included on the Flex Your Head compilation although bootlegs of an unreleased second album exist and some early demos were released much later . The group disbanded by late 1983 after the members graduated from high school.

Faith, fronted by Ian MacKaye s younger brother Alec who would later go on to form Fugazi , played their first show at my brother s Arlington, VA high school in November 1981. Tix were 3 but students got in free The band broke up in August 1983 before their only solo release, the Subject to Change EP. Some early demos were released much later.
