Item Description

LED ZEPPELIN - LED ZEPPELIN II

A very nice copy of this earliest UK 1st press Livin Lovin Wreck variant rock classic

Year/Label : 1969 UK ATLANTIC
Label number : 588 198
Matrix numbers : 588 198 A 2, 588 198 B 2
Stampers : 1 1 4 / 1 1 8

Solid very good plus VG - I am sure that most would grade as excellent - vinyl which comes across as unmarked in normal daylight, giving off an impressive jet black lacquered sheen. Closer scrutiny under a bright light reveals a few very wispy hairlines and extremely faint paper scuff lines on each side - each non-obvious, non-feelable, surface only, and purely superficial. The labels are excellent EX with all black text and iconic Atlantic logo in perfect order, the only blemishes being just a few small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each side. Note the very 1st UK press LIVIN LOVIN WRECK missprint on the side 2 label - later pressings had LIVIN LOVIN MAID . Again, very good plus VG condition non-laminated E.J. Day outer gatefold sleeve : nice firm edges but with intermittent mild scuffing on the bottom edges and a few scuff nicks on the top edges and spine. The spine itself is slightly flattened but nonetheless firm and with all spine text remaining nicely intact and legible. Each corner remains a well defined right angle but with mild rubbing on each and the opening edges are firm with barely any fraying at all. There is a tiny but noticeable indentation towards the front side bottom left corner and the odd minor abrasion and surface crinkle caused by upright storage and/or handling. The inside of the gatefold is near perfect. Do take a close look at my photos - i have tried to show all blemishes even though each is minor, and of course on the top edge particularly on the front left side is the infamous light green hue synonymous with very 1st UK pressings. Truly excellent EX stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, clicks, or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum and only very occasional ie just some very faint and non-intrusive crackle during a couple of the intermissions...negligible. Every track remains a fabulous, timeless listen with great tone and clarity throughout. Hard to believe that this copy is 56 years old Comes with very good VG condition original and correctly dated poly-lined PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS inner sleeve with no side splits, no edge fraying, minimal age discolouration towards, and some creasing towards the corners. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
One of the truly great UK very 1st press rock albums with the terrific sound quality being a true highlight.
