This is an auction for Yeezus s 2008 autotune-drenched masterpiece.
A radical departure from his earlier work, and perhaps the closest thing he s done to his most recent release.
A very different standout in the man s catalog.
I like it, and hate to give it up, but cash is tight after some recent expenses.
I held onto it for so long without wanting to sell it but I just don t have the choice anymore.
If you search, you will see that this record regularly sells between 115-180 US, and on some occasions in the past has even sold for 300 .
I think demand has died down now that Kanye s latest album isn t exactly recent or newsworthy any longer.
But the album does regularly still fetch these prices - more than 5 have sold in that range within the past week.
This particular copy, while not sealed, does still include a section of the shrinkwrap with the original hype sticker - I never throw them out.
Most people do.
Only way to guarantee that you get this really is to buy one that is still sealed.
Those will be pricey and there is no guarantee of condition.
This particular copy is thus 100 complete.
The album packaging is some of the most beautifully lavish I have seen on any record, EVER, with thick heavy cardstock, spot varnishing and a beautiful vividly printed design across a thick triple-panel custom gatefold.
It really is just so nice to look at, and I rarely say that about any particular album art.
The packaging was top-notch here.
The CD has never been played, or even removed from the packaging, as I had the standard cd already to listen to.
Where the CD is harsh, undynamic and badly compressed, the vinyl mastering is a revelation - it is clear that a much better source was used.
It sounds amazing and is very dynamic, and very deep.
Miles better than the CD release.
I did a transfer of the vinyl that I burned to CD, and never played the regular poor-sounding CD again.
The vinyl is not advertised as such but it certainly feels like nice heavy 180 gm virgin vinyl - very solid and well pressed, super quiet surfaces.
A far cry from the flimsy thin stuff most rap/hip-hop has been relegated to historically.
The records were only played a few times, and always on my own meticulously-maintained high-end turntable.
You will not find a nicer copy of this much-misunderstood record.
Severely underrated as far as I am concerned.
I bought it upon release at a local independent record store.
I hate to let it go, but this is the proper time I suppose.
