READ THIS These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can t test-play at the minute. Please don t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles LP Sgt. Pepper 1975 All Rights Glow Ring Audiophile Pressing, NM
Play any cut on either side of this album from any other pressing plant, and THEN play the same cut from this copy. I found myself having to revisit the other pressing in my case, a Winchester pressing to see if elements I d heard on this copy were even on the Winchester copy.
Not many collectors are aware that in very late 1975, there were only a few titles in the Apple catalogue that underwent an audiophile remastering of their plates. These copies have superior sound quality to their counterparts from other pressing plants from the All Rights run. So far, I ve verified that Hey Jude, Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour all have these superior sound quality pressings. They are also probably not coincidentally, the same titles that have orange Capitol straight transfer labels, which are incredibly rare. The orange Capitol straight transfers were pressed from the same plates as these Apple All Rights plates, and are also of superior sound quality.
Read on for further details about this pressing.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Both sides look unplayed. Stunning copy
Plates--- G28/G34. Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.
Cover--- VG . Structurally solid cover. The only real issue is that the tops of both the front and back covers have a little bit of white ring wear. Top and bottom seams also show light to moderate shelfwear. NO SPLIT SEAMS.
Gatefold--- EX. Colors are still vibrant. NO CENTER SPLITS.
Insert--- VG. Insert is the early 1976 style, with the near-paper thickness. Shows a lot of finger divots.
Labels--- EX/EX. Both labels look 1975-brand new, with the exceptions of just a very few light spindle marks per side that you will have to search for.
Both labels are bright green, almost yellow. This is another aspect of the audiophile Apple All Rights pressings. But the final test to the audiophile pressings is that they have a very distinct ring around the playhole that glows when tilted toward the light. LA pressings that lack this glow ring are not audiophile pressings. All other pressing plants naturally lack this glow ring.
The very earliest orange Capitol pressings from 1976 that in all likelihood were pressed in late 1975 also, were pressed with the same text layouts as the Apple pressings, which make them straight transfers. These are extremely rare, and they are also audiophile pressings. See photos.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut hole for the labels to show is present. VERY little yellowing, light record outdent. Light wrinkles from improper insertion at the factory. NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks
Note: All LP s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don t bid unless you re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks
Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks
