Extremely rare white label vinyl LP of The Smiths 1st self titled album. It features A1 and B1 matrix numbers.
This white label would have only been distributed in small numbers to magazines who would review the LP and radio stations to play the record to their listeners.
The vinyl is in near Mint condition and sounds stunning. Side 1 has Side One written on the white label along with Track one Reel around the fountain
Side Two has a blank white label and there is a faint stain on the edge of the label.
The outer card sleeve has a written message from Simon at Rough Trade records.
It reads
Dave. Smiths LP.
Same track listing as tape.
Simon. Rough Trade.
It would be interesting to know who Dave was and what position he had to receive this copy but I would say he was a distributor to the radio stations or magazines.
On the back of the sleeve is a printed red stamp Brand New Disco Mix . Obviously this was just a generic sleeve the Rough Trade guys just picked up and used.
The original inner paper sleeve is present.
Also etched into the dead wax along with the matrix numbers is the catalogue number Rough 61 on both sides.
The tracks on the LP are the same as on the LP and tape when officially released in 1984 and include What difference does it make and Hand in Glove.

A very rare piece which will be up there at the top for any Smiths vinyl collector.
Will be extremely well packed in a box for transit.
