Original 1st US Atlantic Records pressing of Led Zeppelin s 2nd studio album released on October 22, 1969. Holy grail Robert Ludwig s Hot Mix mastering. Pressed at the Monarch Record Mfg. Co., Los Angeles, CA plant, this pressing is considered to be one of the best ones to fully convey Robert Ludwig s mastering. 1st print textured matte raw cardboard gatefold cover remains in the original factory shrink wrap. The front cover contains the original promotional Includes the Hit Single Whole Lotta Love hype sticker with the catalog number SD8236 affixed to the cover underneath the shrink wrap. The back cover contains a very rare track listing This Album Contains sticker affixed to the shrink wrap. 1st print Atlantic Records 1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y. address 2.75 pressing ring labels with the SD 8236 catalog number and the MO suffix identifying the Monarch pressing. RL SS. This Robert Ludwig s Hot Mix mastering copy comes with the original From The Atlantic Catalogue inner sleeve showing the adverts for the other Atlantic releases. This listing includes a very rare original 1969 Whole Lotta Love 2-page sheet music published by Superhype Music, Inc. which features the catalog number 2690 of the Whole Lotta Love / Living Loving Maid single released by Atlantic Records on November 7, 1969.
The stunning cover is graded as Near Mint Minus, practically Mint Minus if it wasn t due to a light indentation mark and age discoloration along the spine on the front. The shrink wrap is fully intact and doesn t have any splits, tears or missing pieces. We grade the vinyl visually as somewhere between Strong Very Good and Very Good Plus with its audio being Excellent Minus. It retains its beautiful factory gloss but has some light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks, as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve, which is in Near Mint Minus condition. The labels are very clean and in Near Mint condition, practically Mint Minus, without having any wear, scuffs or spindle marks. The vinyl sounds great with a punchy and dynamic Robert Ludwig s mastering only having some light occasional static, which is more noticeable during the quiet parts, and that would most likely get reduced or go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original Whole Lotta Love sheet music in great vintage condition showing some shelf wear and signs of use.
