Original promotional Reprise Records special white label DJ radio station 2LP release of The Jimi Hendrix Experience s 3rd and final album Electric Ladyland released by Reprise Records on October 16, 1968. Electric Ladyland was the only Jimi Hendrix s album that was produced by the artist himself. This promotional copy is the true 1st US Stereo pressing with the earliest -1D / -1E / -1E / -1D matrix numbers in the runout grooves. Pressed for radio stations and the media, this special issue was shipped to them several months before the album s official release date. The back of the 1st print gatefold cover contains a Promotion Not For Sale sticker at the top right corner. Special Reprise Records Promotion Not For Sale white labels with the Reprise steamboat logo and 2 RS 6307 catalog number. The labels of side A and B contain a D.J. Samples Promotional Copies sticker. The vinyl was mastered by Customatrix, a subsidiary of Columbia Records, as identified by the small o symbol in the runout grooves. The full matrix numbers of this promotional issue are as follows:

The album comes with 2 original Reprise Records / Seven Arts anniversary Commemorating Ten Years Of The Best Entertainment On Record inner sleeves. The 2LP album is considered to be the band s most successful commercial release and the only one that reached number one in the US charts spending two weeks there. Electric Ladyland contains the cover of Bob Dylan s All Along the Watchtower which became the band s best-selling single. The album is considered to be one of the greatest rock albums in history occupying the 53rd place on the The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list as compiled by the Rolling Stone magazine in 2002.
The beautiful cover of this promotional copy is in Near Mint condition, including the interior gatefold. We graded the vinyl as:

The vinyl retains its beautiful factory lacquer having a few very light non-feelable surface hairlines as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve that don t affect the playback in any way. The snow white promotional labels are very clean and in Near Mint condition, practically Mint Minus, without having any scuffs or wear. The vinyl sounds fantastic, which is especially notable considering that this is a promotional copy, with just some very light occasional static that s more noticeable during the quieter parts and most likely could get reduced or go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. The original Reprise / 7 Arts Commemorating Ten Years Of The Best Entertainment On Record inner sleeves are in Near Mint condition and don t have any splits or tears.
